Tortuga Opening
A new art space in Ghent
On Friday, March 27, Gallery Tortuga, a place for current and experimental contemporary art, opened its doors.
For the opening exhibition 'Nice Shirt', they collaborated with the artist collective 'Golden Patatoes', an eclectic group of emerging and established talents.

Sorry not Sorry Arts Festival
For the fifth edition , the Sorry, Not Sorry arts festival pitched its tents for the second time in a row in the Moscou-Vogelhoek district of Gentbrugge.
Just like in 2022, you found the beating heart of this arts festival in neighborhood park De Porre, which brings together many art forms, artists, and local residents.

On the program this year: two unique Kunstoevers exhibitions reflecting the city's diverse talents. In the SULBB building, the Academy, and CC De Werf, there is the exhibition 'Vaarwater'. Here, artists present their work(s) themselves. In the exhibition space of the VTI, on the other hand, where the Kunstoevers CPO takes place, Renée Lorie is the curator. From an open call, she selected numerous beautiful artworks that can't wait to be discovered by everyone.
Studio in Focus 2024
Atelier in beeld is the big open studio weekend for visual artists throughout Flanders and Brussels. An ideal time to discover studios in your neighborhood. Atelier in beeld is a project by Kunstwerkt. In this co-house studio, two living and working spaces come together in a diverse palette of dimensions. Dayswithnotv entrusts his innermost feelings to paper and canvas; NaMe molds her inner emotional world into pieces of fragile, hard ceramics.

In the month of October, the showcase is hosting visual artist Natasja Meersman. She depicts stories from her own emotional world and is intrigued by the dark side of our existence.
Out of sight therefore casts a deeply human glance behind our facades, but at the same time opens a window that calls for further interpretation.

Schelderode in pictures
A few months ago, during the opening of the deconsecrated St. Martin's Church in Schelderode, the residents raised a glass to their new meeting space and got their hands dirty with clay to create a sculptural work. Visual artist Natasja Meersman transformed this example of collaboration into a ceramic artwork that has taken up a permanent place at this unique location since September 2023. More info

On Saturday, April 22, the local government is throwing open the church doors of the restored St. Martin's Church on Schelderodeplein. The church has undergone a thorough renovation in recent years and fulfills a new role as a meeting place and quiet space.
Between 2 PM and 7 PM, there are numerous activities, including the construction of an artwork led by NaMe.
Visitors are invited to engage in a visual dialogue and encouraged to get their hands dirty and help build a visual work that symbolizes encounter and will subsequently take a permanent place at this special location.

From October 10 to November 10, 2022, NaMe exhibits in the Linx+ display cases with a selection from the 'U-man' series.
In this series, I studied interpersonal relationships within which, despite existing in the same physical sphere relative to one another, we often isolate our minds in our own versions of reality.
The conviction of this personal truth creates a distance between the self and the other. Reinforced by the contemporary fleeting multitude of forms of communication, algorithms must help us survive in this complexity by connecting us only with the ideas and images we are actually already convinced of.
This creates new voids that further dismantle our relationships...

Earth meets Rock & Metal @ Alcatraz
In mid-August, Kortrijk was once again shaken to its foundations for the 14th edition of the Alcatraz festival.
In addition to a wonderful program of heavy rock and metal, there was also another earthly element present: ceramics.
For the presentation of the album Devils Child by the grunge band Von Detta, NaMe created an image based on the cover, designed by Bram Tousseyn.
